The first step. Just a short blog note here, about big beginnings for Indio. Indio is a local Artist and craftsman who i met some months ago in my biking adventures in urban San Antonio. More details about him will be forthcoming, along with biographical information about his talents and handicrafts.
Today marks his first big leap, toward the Carver library for literacy lessons and resources. He has a 3rd grade education and a willingness to learn the basics of reading and writing. I aim to show him the way, and encourage his progress. Thanks to Each One Teach One, specifically Miss Elsie McCormick, the SA Literacy Group and ProLiteracy.org, I am helping him to begin this wonderful Journey.
Ironically, the only local business that allowed him a selling spot for his Native crafts, without charge, burned to the ground yesterday morning. :( Pedicab Bar and Grill. See the photos and news links of the event here: Pedicab Fire
I drove him over to see the damage (total loss) , took some pictures, and offered him some encouragement. Join me as I create and update this Blog, specifically for Indio and Indio's Arts and Crafts.
